چکیده

This study used ethylene-propylene diene monomers (EPDM), an elastomer, to develop foams incorporating clay as filler using simple compounding, chemical foaming, and peroxide-mediated light crosslinking methods. The low-temperature batch mixer was employed for compounding azodicarbonamide (ADC) a foaming agent, dicumyl peroxide (DCP) crosslinker, followed by compression molding sheet preparation the high-temperature process. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) equipped with hot stage attenuated total reflection (ATR) elucidate ADC decomposition foaming. DCP (0.25 phr) content optimized based on expansion ratio (>4) stability, which further in conjuncture generate high-performance composite foams. incorporation of 1% organoclay enhances specific tensile strength >7 ~ 270%, respectively, compared EPDM without while displaying density 0.11 g/cm3. Overall, developed process can be extended other elastomeric polymers various applications such protective gears (e.g., helmets shin guards), thermal/sound insulation, packaging/containment, footwear soles, oil absorption, etc.

Simulation of Foaming and Deformation for Composite Aluminum Foams

In this study, at the first stage, the rupture criterion of bubbles wall in Aluminum metal foam liquid was investigated by using Lattice Boltzmann. The two phases modeling were accomplished by using a modified Shan-Chen model. This model was run for several bubbles in A356+3wt.%SiC melt system. Then, bubbles morphologies (virtual metallographic) for A356+3wt.%SiC foams were simulated. Results s...

Understanding foams & foaming

Most of the common foams are a two-phase medium of gas and liquid with a particular structure consisting of gas pockets trapped in a network of thin liquid lms and plateau borders. Some well known foams are bubble baths, dishwater detergents and the foam head on beers. Many oils foam when trapped gas is suddenly released under conditions of an abrupt drop in pressure. In some re ners in which t...

Foaming Behaviour, Structure, and Properties of Polypropylene Nanocomposites Foams

This work presents the preparation and characterization of compression-moulded montmorillonite and carbon nanofibrepolypropylene foams. The influence of these nanofillers on the foaming behaviour was analyzed in terms of the foaming parameters and final cellular structure and morphology of the foams. Both nanofillers induced the formation of a more isometric-like cellular structure in the foams...

Composite and Nanocomposite Metal Foams

Open-cell and closed-cell metal foams have been reinforced with different kinds of micro- and nano-sized reinforcements to enhance their mechanical properties of the metallic matrix. The idea behind this is that the reinforcement will strengthen the matrix of the cell edges and cell walls and provide high strength and stiffness. This manuscript provides an updated overview of the different manu...

Crosslinking of diene-modified DNA with bis-maleimides.

The chemical crosslinking of modified nucleic acids via the Diels-Alder reaction is reported. For this purpose, 1,3-butadiene derived building blocks were incorporated into complementary oligodeoxynucleotides. Treatment of the obtained duplex with difunctional dienophiles results in the clean crosslinking of the two strands. Non-crosslinked adducts arising from a single Diels-Alder reaction of ...
